Baptism at St. James'

Baptism is "full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body the Church" (BCP pg. 298). By God's grace in baptism we are united with Christ in his death and resurrection, adopted into God's family, the Church, and given forgiveness of sins and the new life of the Holy Spirit.

As Episcopalians we baptize people of any age who come to God in faith, and we also baptize infants whose parents and godparents make promises on a child's behalf, committing to raise them in the Christian faith and life, and help them grow into the full stature of Christ.

If you are interested in baptism — for yourself or someone else — please contact Fr. Philip, who would love to meet with you and discuss next steps.

Our
Baptismal Covenant

Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers?

I will, with God's help.

Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?

I will, with God's help.

Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?

I will, with God's help.

Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?

I will, with God's help.

Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?

I will, with God's help.

(BCP pp. 304-305)
